Measurement and cookies
How these docs, iyedy.com and the iyedy app measure their audience without cookies, what they never collect, and how to change your choice.
On this page
iyedy measures how its sites are used to find what does not work, never to follow you. The measurement tool is Umami, an open-source tool we host ourselves. It sets no cookie and keeps no IP address. Each site asks for its own choice: a yes on iyedy.com is not a yes here.
In these docs
Nothing is measured before you choose. The first time you open the docs, a banner, Your measurement choices, offers Refuse all, Accept all and Customise, side by side, with the same weight.
| Choice | What it measures |
|---|---|
| Anonymous audience measurement | Pages viewed, the site you came from, a few clicks on the page and load times, as anonymous statistics without cookies. |
| Detailed measurement of the docs | We keep a random identifier in this browser to understand which pages help over several visits, and what you search for when nothing is found. It is never linked to your iyedy account. Ticking it ticks the anonymous measurement too. |
Your choice stays in this browser for 6 months, then we ask again; we also ask again if the purposes change. To change it at any time, select Edit measurement choices at the bottom of any page: it takes effect at once.
If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is measured, whatever you chose.
The answer to Was this page helpful? is anonymous, and counts only if you accepted measurement.
What is never collected
- your name, your e-mail address, your IP address, your iyedy account or organisation;
- the address after the path: no query string, no fragment, so nothing you typed in a link;
- the text of a feedback, the content you copy, your keystrokes, a replay of your visit;
- anything about your diagrams.
The statistics are only read in aggregate, for our own use. They are never combined with the data of the app or of iyedy.com, and never passed to anyone else.
What stays in your browser
These docs keep a few preferences in your browser so that they work as you left them. They measure nothing and never leave your browser:
| Preference | Why |
|---|---|
| Light or dark theme | the theme you chose |
| Claude app tab | the tab you picked on the Claude pages, for every page |
| Recent searches | to offer them again; you can clear them in the search |
| Tutorial progress | the steps you marked as done |
| Your measurement choices, and the random identifier if you accepted the detailed measurement | to respect your choice; the identifier is erased when you withdraw |
Clearing your browser's data for docs.iyedy.com removes them all.
On iyedy.com and in the app
- iyedy.com has its own banner and its own choices. Change them with Manage my choices at the bottom of every page of the site.
- The iyedy app counts the same way, without cookies: pages in a generic form (“a diagram”, never its name) and a few actions, with no link to your account. To object, open Account settings… and tick Do not use my activity for product analytics. Measurement is off for organisations under an Enterprise contract.
- Cookies of the app. The app only uses the cookies it needs to work, such as your sign-in session.
The legal text, with the durations, is the privacy policy.
What this means for you
- You can read every page of these docs while refusing all measurement: nothing changes for you.
- If you accept, you help us fix the pages that fail and the searches that find nothing.
