Connect iyedy to ChatGPT
Add iyedy to ChatGPT as a custom MCP server and work with your architecture diagrams in a ChatGPT conversation. ChatGPT reads your models, runs iyedy's checks and prepares changes. It never edits a model itself; you, or someone who can edit the diagram, apply each change in iyedy.
On this page
ChatGPT adds custom MCP servers on the web only, not in its mobile apps. ChatGPT Business, Enterprise and Edu use every iyedy tool, including proposals. ChatGPT Pro uses the reading tools only.
iyedy is not in ChatGPT's app directory: you add it yourself, as a custom MCP server. ChatGPT shows it as an app in developer mode.
Before you start
- An iyedy account. Sign in once at app.iyedy.com with the identity you will use from ChatGPT, and finish creating your account. ChatGPT sees exactly the diagrams this account can read.
- ChatGPT on the web (chatgpt.com), on a plan that can add a custom MCP server:
| ChatGPT plan | Who adds iyedy | What ChatGPT can do |
|---|---|---|
| Business | an admin or an owner of the ChatGPT workspace | every tool: read, search, analyse, preview, submit and withdraw proposals |
| Enterprise, Edu | an admin, an owner, or a member an admin allowed | every tool, as above |
| Pro | you | the reading tools only: read, search and analyse; no proposal |
- In an iyedy organisation (Team, Enterprise), access for MCP clients is off until an owner asks support@iyedy.com to turn it on. Your personal workspace works right away.
Set up
- Add a custom MCP server in ChatGPT
In ChatGPT on the web, go to Plugins, select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. Enter the name
iyedyand, if you like, a description. - Enter iyedy's address
Under Connection, enter this address:
https://app.iyedy.com/mcp - Choose OAuth
For the authentication, choose OAuth and leave the client ID and client secret empty. ChatGPT then introduces itself to iyedy with its own public address, which iyedy knows. Read the risk warning, select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
- Sign in to iyedy
ChatGPT opens iyedy's sign-in page on
auth.iyedy.com. Sign in as you do in the app: e-mail and password, Google, or your organisation's single sign-on. - Approve the access
Check that the page is on
auth.iyedy.comand that it names ChatGPT on chatgpt.com, read what ChatGPT asks for, then select Allow. On auth.iyedy.com · the access page for ChatGPT The iyedy access page in the browser: the address bar shows auth.iyedy.com, the card names the application ChatGPT and the site chatgpt.com, lists five permissions and ends with Deny and Allow.
- The address is auth.iyedy.com. ChatGPT never sees your password.
- Who asks: the application ChatGPT, from the site chatgpt.com. Select Allow only when you are adding iyedy yourself, with the address above. If this page opens while you are connecting another server in ChatGPT, or names another app or site, select Deny.
- What ChatGPT will be able to do: see your e-mail address, read your diagrams, search and analyse impact, preview changes and submit proposals, and stay connected while you are away. Nothing here edits, deletes or shares a diagram.
- Allow sends you back to ChatGPT, which keeps the connection for you.
- Ask ChatGPT
ChatGPT lists the tools it found on iyedy. Start a new conversation, type
@in the message box, select iyedy, then try: “List my iyedy diagrams and explain how the claims platform is built.”You are done when ChatGPT answers with the names of your own diagrams.
In Business, Enterprise and Edu, the server you add is first yours to test. An admin or an owner then publishes it for the workspace in ChatGPT's admin console, and members find it in ChatGPT under Settings, then Plugins. Each member signs in to iyedy with their own account and sees only their own diagrams.
Use it
Select iyedy with @ in each message that needs your diagrams; ChatGPT keeps the answers it already has for the rest of the conversation. Try:
- “What depends on the Claims API? Show me the impact across my diagrams.”
- “Run the checks on the Claims Platform diagram and summarise the findings.”
- “Describe the containers view of the Claims Platform.”
- “Prepare a proposal that adds a Fraud Scoring service called by the Claims API.”
ChatGPT may ask you to confirm before it submits or withdraws a proposal. On Pro, ChatGPT answers from the reading tools and cannot submit a proposal.
What ChatGPT can do
ChatGPT picks the tools from your request. Reading tools never change anything. The two tools that store something only reach a proposal, never the model.
Read and analyse
Diagrams, views, versions, findings, dependencies across diagrams.
Propose a change
Preview a change, then submit it as a proposal that a person reviews in iyedy.
A proposal from ChatGPT waits in iyedy, labelled with the app it came from, until someone who can edit the diagram applies or rejects it. A proposal nobody handles is deleted 30 days after it was made.
What ChatGPT sees, what stays in iyedy
- It acts as you. ChatGPT reaches the same workspaces, diagrams and roles as your iyedy account, never more. A diagram you cannot open does not exist for it.
- Up to a ceiling. Confidential on personal workspaces, Internal on Team and Enterprise. Restricted diagrams are never sent. Values that look like secrets are replaced before they leave iyedy.
- Nothing changes without a person. ChatGPT can submit a proposal or withdraw its own; you, or someone who can edit the diagram, apply it in iyedy.
- A trace in your organisation. In an organisation, every call that reads or proposes is recorded in its audit log, with the tool, the app and the result. Diagram content and tokens are never recorded.
- Your data. iyedy does not use your diagrams to train AI models. What ChatGPT does with what it reads is covered by your ChatGPT account terms and your ChatGPT workspace's settings.

Disconnect
- In ChatGPT. Open Settings, then Plugins, and disconnect or remove iyedy. An admin of a ChatGPT workspace can also unpublish it for everyone.
- On iyedy's side. There is no screen for this yet: write to support@iyedy.com. Support removes ChatGPT's access, which also ends its renewals; an access already issued stays valid for the rest of its 15 minutes.
See Sign-in, permissions and disconnecting.
In an iyedy organisation
In Team and Enterprise, access for MCP clients stays off until an owner writes to support@iyedy.com. ChatGPT connects only when the organisation's list of allowed clients names it: the owner asks support to add ChatGPT. Members then connect ChatGPT with their own iyedy account, under the organisation's ceiling and its single sign-on. See Claude and MCP for your organisation.
Troubleshooting
The sign-in page answers 400 or “invalid client”
iyedy's sign-in did not recognise ChatGPT. Check that the client ID and client secret were left empty, and that the address is exactly https://app.iyedy.com/mcp. If iyedy was added before ChatGPT could connect, with a client ID of your own or with another address, remove it in ChatGPT and add it again.
“No iyedy account uses this sign-in yet.”
You signed in with an identity that has no iyedy account. Open app.iyedy.com, sign in with the same identity, finish creating your account, then connect again. The connection never creates an account for you.
ChatGPT asks you to sign in to iyedy again after about 30 minutes
ChatGPT did not get the right to stay connected. Remove iyedy in ChatGPT, add it again, and check that the access page lists “Keep access while you are away” before you allow it.
