AI and your diagrams
When the Assistant sends something to our AI model provider, what it sends, what never leaves, and how to turn AI off.
On this page
The Assistant is iyedy's built-in AI. It runs on our AI model provider's models, and it sends something to that provider only when you ask it for something. This page says what it sends and what never leaves. To see what it read for one request, open it in the app: the Assistant keeps the list.
When something is sent
Nothing is sent while you draw, run the checks or read a diagram. Something leaves iyedy only in these cases:
- You make a request to the Assistant. It sends what the request needs: most often an extract of the diagram you have open. A change or a review also carries the standards of your space; a research request, extracts of other diagrams you may read.
- You attach a photo or a PDF. It is sent whole, a photo without its metadata, and is not stored.
- You approve a web search. Web research is off unless it is turned on; each search is shown to you before it runs.
- The landscape map is on. It summarises groups of related elements across your diagrams in the background, and spends credits. It is on by default in a personal account where AI is on, and off in an organisation until an owner or a security admin turns it on.
What never leaves
- Instant answers and checks. They are computed in your page, without AI: no credits, nothing sent (Instant answers, free and without AI).
- Diagrams above the AI ceiling. The Assistant does not read a diagram classified above the ceiling of its space. A Restricted diagram is never sent.
- Your diagrams, to train models. iyedy does not use your diagrams to train AI models.
| Where | The Assistant reads up to |
|---|---|
| A personal account (Free, Pro, Pro+) | Confidential |
| A Team organisation | Confidential |
| An Enterprise organisation | Internal |
| Any space | never Restricted |
In a personal account the setting is called The Assistant reads up to; in an organisation, AI ceiling (Classification and AI ceiling).
What our AI model provider does with it
Our AI model provider processes what the Assistant sends to answer the request, as our sub-processor. It may process it outside the European Union, with no guarantee of location, under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, and deletes it within 30 days.
See what was sent
In the Assistant panel, open the More menu (⋯):
- What was sent lists what left iyedy for your requests;
- What the Assistant reads says what it may read in this space.
Your conversations are kept for a limited time that you can shorten (Conversations and retention).
Turn AI off
- In a personal account. Open File, then AI settings and audit trail…, and turn off Assistant on. Every Assistant request from your diagrams stops at once; local checks keep working.
- In an organisation. The Assistant is off until an owner accepts the AI addendum. Owners and security admins turn it on or off for the organisation and for each workspace (Turn on the Assistant for your organisation).
With AI off, no content is sent to our AI model provider any more.
What this means for you
- Classify a diagram before you ask the Assistant about it: the ceiling does the rest.
- If a diagram must never reach an AI, classify it Restricted.
- For Claude and the other assistants you connect yourself, other rules apply: see Assistants connected through MCP.
