Use iyedy in Claude Code
Add iyedy to Claude Code with one command and sign in once in your browser. Claude can then list your diagrams, read a view, follow dependencies across diagrams, run the checks and prepare a change that a person applies in iyedy.
On this page
For claude.ai, Claude Desktop and the Claude mobile apps, add iyedy from the Claude directory: see Connect iyedy to Claude. If Claude Code uses the same Claude account, run /mcp: a connector added in claude.ai can already be listed there.
Before you start
- An iyedy account. Sign in once at app.iyedy.com with the identity you will use, and finish creating your account. Without it, every tool answers that no iyedy account uses this sign-in yet.
- Claude Code installed on your computer and signed in to your Claude account.
- A browser on the same machine for the sign-in, or another device for the variant without a browser (below).
- In an iyedy organisation (Team, Enterprise), access for MCP clients is off until an owner asks support to turn it on: see Claude and MCP for your organisation. Your personal workspace works right away.
Set up
- Add iyedy to Claude Code
Run this once in your terminal:
$ claude mcp add --transport http --scope user \ --client-id claude-code iyedy https://app.iyedy.com/mcp$ claude mcp add \ --transport http \ --scope user \ --client-id claude-code \ iyedy \ https://app.iyedy.com/mcp
--transport httppoints Claude Code at iyedy's hosted server,--scope usermakes iyedy available in all your projects, and--client-id claude-codetells iyedy's sign-in that the request comes from Claude Code: keep it in the command.Coming soonSimpler sign-in for Claude Code.
- Sign in to iyedy
In a Claude Code session, run
/mcp, select iyedy, then Authenticate. From the shell, this does the same:$ claude mcp login iyedyYour browser opens iyedy's sign-in page on
auth.iyedy.com. Sign in as you do in the app: e-mail and password, Google, or your organisation's single sign-on. - Approve the access
The access page says that Claude Code wants to use your iyedy account and lists what it will be able to do. Check the address, then select Allow.
On auth.iyedy.com · the access page The iyedy access page in the browser: the address bar shows auth.iyedy.com, the card names Claude Code, lists three permissions and ends with Deny and Allow.
- The address is auth.iyedy.com. Claude Code never sees your password.
- The three permissions: read your diagrams, search elements and analyse impact, preview changes and submit proposals. None of them edits, deletes or shares a diagram.
- Allow sends you back to Claude Code, which keeps the sign-in.
- Check the connection
Run:
$ claude mcp listiyedy is listed as connected. Then ask Claude, in your own words: “List my iyedy diagrams, then describe the containers view of Claims Platform.”
You are done when Claude answers with the names of your own diagrams.
On a machine without a browser
On a remote server or in a container, sign in with this command, open the address it prints on another device, and approve the access there:
$ claude mcp login iyedy --no-browser$ claude mcp login iyedy \ --no-browser
For a job that runs with nobody at the keyboard, OAuth is the wrong tool: an MCP client can connect with a personal access token instead. See Connect another MCP client.
What Claude Code asks before acting
iyedy marks each of its 24 tools. The 22 reading tools are read-only: they change nothing, and Claude Code can run them without asking if you allow it in its permissions. The two tools that store something, submit_proposal and withdraw_proposal, are marked destructive, so Claude Code asks for your approval before each call. Even then, the model of your diagram does not change: a proposal waits in iyedy until a person who can edit the diagram applies or rejects it. See How proposals reach your team.
How long the sign-in lasts
Claude Code keeps the sign-in for you. It stays valid as long as you use it at least once every 30 days; after a longer pause, Claude Code asks you to sign in again. Everything Claude reads goes through your iyedy account: the same diagrams, the same roles, never more. Details: Sign-in, permissions and disconnecting.
Disconnect
To make Claude Code forget the sign-in:
$ claude mcp logout iyedyTo remove iyedy from Claude Code:
$ claude mcp remove iyedyThere is no screen in iyedy for this yet. To remove the access on iyedy's side as well, write to support@iyedy.com.
If it doesn't work
The sign-in page shows “Invalid parameter: redirect_uri”
iyedy was added without --client-id claude-code. Remove it, then add it again with the command of step 1:
$ claude mcp remove iyedy“No iyedy account uses this sign-in yet.”
Open app.iyedy.com, sign in with the same identity you used in the browser window, and finish creating your account. Then ask Claude again.
Claude Code asks you to sign in to iyedy again
The sign-in expired or did not finish. Run /mcp, select iyedy, then Authenticate.
