Conversations and retention
The Assistant keeps one conversation per diagram for you, so that a follow-up question knows what came before. It is yours alone, kept for a limited time, and you can clear or delete it at any moment, even when the Assistant is off.
On this page
Before you start
- The conversation of a diagram belongs to you: other people with access to the diagram have their own and never see yours.
- With view access only, the conversation lasts for this visit: Not saved: you have view access. This conversation lasts for this visit only.
What is kept, and for how long
The panel says it under the conversation: Kept 30 days. In an organisation, the period is the organisation's; when it keeps none, the line reads Not kept: your organisation keeps no assistant history.
- Kept: your words, the text of each answer with its citations, the summary of each proposal with what you decided, and your pinned notes.
- Not kept: the text sent to the AI service, what its tools read, and your images and PDFs.
- Older turns go first: past the period, or past 30 turns, the oldest are dropped.
- Deleted with the rest: when the diagram is deleted, when you leave the workspace, and when your account is deleted.
Our AI model provider, for its part, deletes what it received within 30 days. See What the Assistant reads.
Pin a note
A note is a fact the Assistant keeps in mind for every later request on this diagram.
- Open the notes
Open the panel's ⋯ menu, then Notes I keep for this diagram.
- Write and pin it
Type the fact, for example “Hosting: all Claims Platform services run in eu-west-3.”, then select Pin. You can also pin a sentence of an answer.
The note is listed under Pinned notes, and What the Assistant reads counts it among what goes with a question.
Up to 20 notes, of 280 characters each. Remove one with the button next to it.
Start over, clear or delete
| Action | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| New conversation | the Assistant panel | Clears the conversation and starts a new one. Undo brings it back. |
| Clear | the line under the conversation | Removes the conversation. Pinned notes stay: Conversation cleared. Pinned notes stay. |
| Delete now | the same line | Deletes the conversation and the notes: Conversation and notes deleted. |
You can read, clear and delete a conversation even when the Assistant is off in your workspace.
Earlier conversations
Earlier conversations, under the ⋯ menu, lists the conversations you keep on the diagrams of this workspace that you can still read. A diagram you lost access to takes its conversation with it.
If it doesn't work
The box is disabled and the conversation is locked
The diagram, or something the conversation read, is now above the classification ceiling, for example after the ceiling was lowered. Select Clear or Delete now: it unlocks the conversation. See What the Assistant reads.
The Assistant forgot what I said earlier
The turn is older than the period kept, or among the oldest past 30 turns. Pin what must stay as a note.
“This note could not be pinned: 20 notes and 4 KiB at most.”
Remove a note you no longer need, or shorten the notes, then pin again.
