Changes not saved

iyedy saves as you work: the status bar shows Saved and the time. When it shows anything else, a banner above the canvas says why. Your changes stay on your device until they are saved.

TroubleshootingAll plansUpdated 29 Oct 2026

The status bar at the bottom of the editor says Saved with the time when everything is stored. Saving… and Unsaved: 1 change are normal for a second or two. The entries below cover the other cases.

A save fails

“Not saved: the connection is lost. Your changes stay on this device.”

Why: iyedy could not reach the server when it tried to save. The banner says the reason after “Not saved:” and when it tries again (“Next try in 30 s.”).

Fix it: check your connection, then select Retry now. Do not close the tab while the status bar does not say Saved.

“Offline: 3 changes waiting”

Why: your device lost its connection. You can keep working: your changes stay on this device.

Fix it: they are sent when the connection returns. To try at once, select Retry now.

“Not saved: your session has ended.”

Why: you were signed out, after a long time without activity for example.

Fix it: sign in again in another tab, come back, then select Retry now. See Sign-in problems.

“Not saved: it changed in the meantime.”

Why: someone else, or you in another tab, changed the diagram since this tab last read it.

Fix it: reload the page, then make your change again. To see what changed, open History (Ctrl Shift H).

“Not saved: another tab is saving this diagram.”

Why: the same diagram is open in another tab, which is saving at the same moment.

Fix it: wait a moment, then select Retry now. Keep one diagram open in one tab when you can.

“Not saved: you do not have the rights for this.”

Why: your role on this diagram changed, or you only have view or comment access.

Fix it: ask the diagram's owner for edit access. See Roles and permissions.

“This diagram is too large to save”

Why: one diagram has a size limit, shown in the message.

Fix it: split the system into two diagrams, or remove what the diagram does not need, such as large pasted descriptions.

“Your library is full. Delete old diagrams or versions.”

Why: the storage of your library is full.

Fix it: delete diagrams or versions you no longer need, then select Retry now.

Read-only

“Read-only: your plan keeps a limited number of diagrams editable.”

Why: on Free, 5 diagrams stay editable. When you come back to Free from Pro, the 5 you changed most recently stay editable and the others are read-only.

Fix it: move a diagram you no longer need to the trash to free a place, or upgrade. See Limits by plan.

“Read-only: the subscription has lapsed. Everyone can still read and export.”

Why: the plan of the account ended, or its payment failed for too long.

Fix it: whoever handles the bill resubscribes in Plan and billing…. See Billing troubleshooting.

“View only. You can browse, present, export and copy this drawing.”

Why: you can open this diagram but not edit it.

Fix it: select Make a copy to work on your own copy, or Request edit access when the banner offers it.

“This drawing is Approved. Editing starts a new revision as Draft.”

Why: an Approved drawing is frozen, so the approved state stays as it was.

Fix it: select Start a revision. The new revision starts as Draft; the approved one stays in the history.

“Viewing only · editing needs 768 px”

Why: editing needs a screen at least 768 px wide.

Fix it: open the diagram on a computer or a tablet held wide. On the phone you can still browse, present and export.

Getting your work back

“This browser keeps changes newer than the saved copy.”

Why: you closed the tab or lost the connection before the last changes were saved. The browser kept them.

Fix it: select Recover. To drop them instead, open the menus (Alt), then File, and choose Discard the changes kept in this browser…

I want the diagram as it was this morning

Why: iyedy keeps the versions of each diagram.

Fix it: open History (Ctrl Shift H), compare, then restore the version you want. On Free the history covers 30 days. See Save and restore versions.
