Sign off your own version

On your own, you decide when a version is good: you sign it off. iyedy shows the checks first and asks for a condition while a HIGH finding is open. Once signed off, the version is Approved and the Inspector says who approved it.

Before you start

  • A diagram in My diagrams that you own. In an organisation, versions are reviewed by colleagues instead: see Request a review.
  • The version you want to sign off is the current one. Your sign-off covers the whole of that version: its changes and the decisions that come with it. See Save and restore versions.
  • A larger screen than a phone. On a phone, the app reads only.

Sign off

  1. Open the sign-off

Open the diagram, then in the Share menu select Open comments and sign-off. The right panel shows three parts: Checks, Comments and Sign-off. Select Sign-off.

  2. Read what you sign off

The panel says which version you sign off and what it is compared with: the version you signed off last time, or first sign-off: no signed-off version to compare with. Look at the open findings in Checks, and fix what you can before you go on. See Run checks and handle findings.

  3. Add a note if it helps

In Sign-off note (optional), say what this version settles, for example: Claims intake now goes through the API gateway. The note is kept with your sign-off.

  4. Sign off

Select Sign off v2 (the button names the current version). While a HIGH finding is open, choose Sign off with a condition…, write the condition, then select Sign off with this condition. You can also accept the risk of the HIGH findings, with a reason.

The app says v2 is signed off. The version's stamp is Approved, and the Inspector shows Approved by (author) with your name.

Variants and limits

  • From the command palette. Press Ctrl K, type sign off, and choose Sign off this version…. iyedy asks Sign off v2 as its author? It becomes Approved.
  • Your rule for HIGH findings. Under the sign-off, Change in your settings opens your rule: An open HIGH finding asks for a condition before you sign off. It is on by default. Turned off, an open HIGH finding asks for nothing more.
  • After a change. Any change after your sign-off makes a new version, which is not signed off yet. The earlier version stays Approved in the history.
  • A second opinion first. You can ask someone for their opinion before you sign off. See Ask a guest for an opinion.
  • Keep a record. Export the Sign-off pack (PDF): see Create a review pack.

If it doesn't work

“An open HIGH finding asks for a condition or an accepted risk.”

A HIGH finding is still open. Sign off with a condition, accept the risk of the HIGH findings with a reason, or fix the finding and sign off again.

“Only the owner of the diagram signs it off.”

You opened someone else's diagram. Its owner signs it off; you can comment.

“The diagram changed meanwhile: reload, then sign off again.”

The diagram was saved again after you opened the sign-off, from another tab or by someone you invited. Reload the page, read the new version, then sign off.
