Status stamps
The six stamps a version of a diagram can carry: Draft, In review, Changes requested, Approved, Withdrawn and Superseded, and what sets each one.
On this page
A stamp says where a version stands. The sign-off or the review sets it; nobody types it by hand, unless an organisation lets people declare a status. Approved is the only filled stamp; Withdrawn and Superseded are struck through.
The six stamps
| Stamp | Means | Set by |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | Work in progress: no sign-off or review stands behind it. | A new diagram, and every diagram that arrives in an organisation. |
| In review | The version waits for opinions or verdicts. | A review sent to approvers, or an opinion asked on your own. |
| Changes requested | Someone asked for changes before approval. | One request for changes from an approver, or an opinion asking for changes. |
| Approved | The version is approved. | Your sign-off on your own; enough approvals in an organisation. |
| Withdrawn | The review was closed before a decision. | Its author withdrawing it, or the last approver who could conclude being removed. |
| Superseded | An approved version that a later approved version replaces. | The approval of a newer version. |
Draft
The starting point of every version. A diagram copied or moved into an organisation arrives as Draft, whatever it carried before: its earlier sign-off stays in its history, and the organisation's review decides.
In review
Set when an author sends a review to approvers, or asks someone for an opinion on their own diagram. A change to the diagram during the review makes a new version; the author resubmits it so that approvers review that version.
Changes requested
Set as soon as one approver requests changes, or a person asked for an opinion asks for changes. The author updates the diagram, answers the comments and resubmits (in an organisation) or signs off a new version (on your own).
Approved
Set by the author's sign-off in My diagrams, or once the approvals needed are given in an organisation. The Inspector then shows Approved by, filled by the sign-off or the review.
Withdrawn
The review ended without a decision: its author withdrew it, or the last person who could conclude it was removed. Approvers are no longer asked.
Superseded
An approved version stays approved in the history. When a newer version is approved, the older one is marked Superseded.
A status set by hand
In an organisation, the review policy can allow A diagram's status may be set by hand. The Inspector then says The status was declared by hand: no review stands behind it. Otherwise only the review gives In review, Changes requested and Approved. See Request a review.
