Import and export troubleshooting
What to do when a file does not import, an import misses part of the drawing, or an export, a copy or a PDF pack does not come out.

Importing
“Could not import diagram.png: no iyedy model found.”
Why it happens. The SVG or PNG was not exported from iyedy, or it was edited since and lost the model it carried.
Fix it. Import the source drawing instead (draw.io, Visio or Mermaid), or ask the Assistant to draw the system from a description. See Import a diagram.
“Visio 2003 to 2010 binary drawings (.vsd) cannot be read.”
Why it happens. iyedy reads the Visio Drawing format (.vsdx, .vsdm), not the older binary one.
Fix it. Open the file in Visio, save it as a Visio Drawing (.vsdx), then import that file.
“This Visio drawing is password-protected (an encrypted package).”
Why it happens. The drawing is encrypted, so iyedy cannot read it.
Fix it. Remove the protection in Visio, save, and import again.
“This file is not a Visio drawing (.vsdx).”
Why it happens. The file has a Visio extension but is something else, or it was cut short while copying.
Fix it. Copy or download the file again, check that it opens in Visio, then import it.
A Mermaid file is refused
Why it happens. iyedy reads Mermaid flowcharts, sequence diagrams and C4 diagrams only. The message names the type it found.
Fix it. Draw that part as a flowchart, or describe it to the Assistant.
“Import needs a screen at least 768 px wide.”
Why it happens. Imports do not run on a phone.
Fix it. Import on a computer or a tablet in landscape.
The import stops at the plan limit
Why it happens. An import is a new diagram, and Free keeps 5 diagrams you can edit.
Fix it. Move a diagram you no longer use to the trash, then import again. See Find and organise diagrams.
Part of the drawing did not come in
Why it happens. Some shapes have no place in a model: unlabelled decorations, background pages, lines that touch only one shape.
Fix it. Import the file again and read Dropped and To check in the report. Tidy up with the assistant proposes fixes; nothing changes before you apply. See What each import keeps.
Exporting and copying
“Not exported: this view has nothing to export.”
Why it happens. The view is empty, or all of its elements are hidden.
Fix it. Open a view with content, or show the hidden elements, then export again.
“Your browser blocked image copy here. Download it instead.”
Why it happens. Your browser refuses to put an image on the clipboard.
Fix it. Select Download PNG, or export the PNG from the Export dialog (Ctrl E).
“A download prompt is already open”
Why it happens. Your browser is still asking where to save the previous file.
Fix it. Answer or close that prompt, then export again.
“Downloads are not available here: use Copy”
Why it happens. The page cannot save files here, for example inside another site or with downloads blocked.
Fix it. Allow downloads for app.iyedy.com, or use the copy commands instead. See Export a view.
“No C4 form for this view: use PlantUML”
Why it happens. C4-PlantUML has no form for Data flow, Integration or Network views.
Fix it. Export that view to PlantUML, draw.io, SVG or PNG. See Export formats.
Review pack (PDF)
“Dossier not built”
Why it happens. A view of the pack could not be rendered.
Fix it. Open each view of the pack once to check it draws, untick the one that fails, then export again. See Create a review pack (PDF).
